Grab Your Running Shoes; Session Starts Today!
Today at Noon, Gov. Kevin Stitt will kick off the start of the First Regular Session of the 58th Oklahoma Legislature with his annual State of the State Address. The 58th Legislature will be in regular session starting today — the first Monday in February — and will adjourn sine die no later than five o’clock p.m. on the last Friday in May.
The members of the Legislature then, have from today — Feb. 1— until Friday, May 28 to complete their work. During these next four months of Session, more than 3,000 bills will be considered by more than 50 committees and subcommittees. Of these 3,000 bills, only a fraction will pass committee and be heard by the House and Senate general assemblies. A smaller fraction still will pass both chambers and land on the Governor’s desk to be signed into law or vetoed.
